REPORT ON ANKARA YILDIRIM BEYAZIT UNIVERSITY (AYBU) INTERNATIONAL STUDENT’S DAY CEREBRATION, 5TH NOVEMBER, 2021
On Friday, 5th November 2021, the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ankara, Turkey was represented by the Deputy Head of Mission and officials to witness the Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Annual International Students Day event that was held at the main campus in Çubuk.
This annual event was commemorated with a showcase of diverse cultural activities and performances by foreign students from different countries including Sierra Leone, displayıng their cultural heritage with their Turkish counterpart and the Administration of the University
Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University is one of the renowned universities in Turkey that is known for accommodating an overwhelming number of foreign students, especially from Africa.
Various African students performed at this ceremony showcasing their cultural attires and respective national flags. The Republic of Sierra Leone was fully represented by its students currently studying at the university.
Considering the importance of education which also resonate with the flagship program of H.E. President Dr. Julius Maada Bio on human capital development, the Deputy Head of Mission had a brief meeting with the Rector, “Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Aydinli”, of the University about the possibilities of broadening the scope of educational cooperation between AYBU and various Higher Educational Institutions of Sierra Leone and to strengthen the bilateral relations of the two sisterly countries through enrolment of more students from Sierra Leone to AYBU, respectively.
