Minister of Information And Civic Education Chernor Bah Participates In The Feminist Network For Gender Transformative Education Conference, Engages World Feminists on Commitment To UNGEI’s Core Values
Istanbul, Turkiye, Thursday 2 November 2023 - Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Honorable Chernor Bah has participated in the 2023 Feminist Network For Gender Transformative Education Conference, and has engaged renowned feminists within the UN circle on their collective commitments to the United Nations Girls' Education Initiative, UNGEI.
The Feminist Network For Gender Transformative Education is a United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative, a global partnership and platform for girls’ education and gender equality in and through education; it is a convening of powerful feminist voices working together to accelerate progress towards gender transformative education around the world.
The theme for 2023 was “Building Just and Equal Societies: the Power of Gender Transformative Education”, and it marked the second time UNGEI had brought together extraordinary feminist leaders to advance gender transformative education around the world.
The conference also seeks to ensure that all learners, regardless of gender or sex, are supported with gender-transformative education to realize their full potential and contribute to achieving equal, just societies including by removing barriers to girls' and women's rights. In an interview, Minister Bah affirmed the important of these values to Sierra Leone and praised President Bio’s commitment to radical inclusion in education.
The minister committed that the civic education agenda in Sierra Leone that he’s charged with delivering, will be feminist and include strong gender transformative education components.
